This is the best time of year to roll out a food truck! People are happy to be outdoors, there are multiple festivals every weekend and it is not 120 degrees inside the trucks. These eight trucks have their timing down and several of these concepts will be big hits as they cool people off over the next five months, while the others have menus that are already making me hungry!
TX Ballpark Express - The Boys of Summer now have their food truck with TX Ballpark Express. This truck, with its Texas Ranger wrap will be parked outside The Ballpark for home games and will be posting up across the Metroplex when the Rangers are not at home. TX Ballpark Express will be at the Texas Food Truckin Festival on April 26-27. Otherwise, you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter to find their locations.
Troll Nut House - Nuts are the focus at this house. Trolls Nut House is an events food truck featuring cinnamon roasted almonds. The truck has been operating since November 2012 but I just became aware of them when they served at Denton 35 in March. Trolls Nut House will be at the Real Texas Festival in Mesquite on April 26 - 27 and the International Festival in Dallas on May 25. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter for more information.
Taste of Cuba- One of Dallas' most awarded chefs, Issac Rousso is rolling out a Cuban food truck! For those not familiar with Issac, he is most well-known for his fried foods that are celebrated each year at the State Fair of Texas Fried Food contest. He is also the concessionaire at Taste of Cuba and Magnolia Beer Garden inside the Fair. Scott Reitz of The Dallas Observer called Rousso's Cuban Sandwich one of the best in Dallas. That sandwich will take center stage on the Taste of Cuba truck, along with empanadas, tamales and several other surprises. Taste of Cuba will debut at the Texas Food Truckin Festival on April 26-27. You can follow Taste of Cuba on Facebook and Twitter to find their daily stops.
Parrot Icce will be a favorite this summer, with their shaved ice truck. The truck is in the final build stage with Cruising Kitchen and will even have a starring role in Cruising Kitchen's reality show that is being filmed. Parrot Icce's menu is a bit different from other shaved ice truck's in that many of the items are made with condensed milk. Yum! You can follow Parrot Icce on Facebook and Twitter to find out when they will be on the streets of the Metroplex.
Glazed Donut Works - Within the next month, Dallas will have a donut truck, featuring handmade, small batch donuts. I don't have specifics about the menu yet, but it is donuts, so I am interested! If you are interested too, follow Glazed Donut Works on Facebook and Twitter.
The Original Jolly Trolley and Jolly Trolley Express - Recently I found out about an events trailer, The Original Jolly Trolley, that sells brisket sandwiches, nachos, Frito pies and baked potatoes. The owners also have a Jolly Trolley Express food truck in the works and plan to sell snack foods, such as popcorn, sno-cones and desserts on the streets of Dallas. An entry on their Facebook page indicates the Jolly Trolley Express has been delayed while some legal issues are worked out but the Original Jolly Trolley served this weekend at an event. You can follow both on Facebook.
I'm looking forward to trying all of these trucks. It is shaping up to be a great Spring and Summer for Food Trucking!

Shiitake Swerve- Almost a year after announcing they were coming soon, DFW has another vegetarian truck. Shiitake Swerve plans to be on the UNT campus and has already begun operating in Fort Worth. You can follow Shiitake Swerve on Facebook and Twitter for more details on where to find them.
