Across the Metroplex, over the two months several new food trucks have opened quietly.
That Clucken Chicken: Serving in South Tarrant County is the food trailer for Rendon's well-known That Clucken Chicken. The trailer rolled out on July 4 and is serving fried chicken with all the sides. The menu includes wraps, tenders and wings. Follow That Clucken Chicken on Facebook and Twitter for information on where to find them.
Shortcakes Bus: Fort Worth has a new mobile cupcake vendor with the Shortcakes Bus out of Weatherford. The bus launched in Mid-July in Hudson Oaks and made their way to the Fort Worth Food Park in early August. Their Facebook Page doesn't have many details and they haven't responded to my request for more information but cupcakes are generally a good thing, so I look forward to trying them. You can follow Shortcakes Bus on Facebook and Twitter.
Brainfreeze Drinks: From California, Dallas has a new smoothie/coffee/tea truck with Brainfreeze Drinks. The PR group for Brainfreeze tells me that their drinks are made with all natural ingredients including pure cane sugar and real fruit and all drinks have the option of having boba added. You can follow Brainfreeze on Facebook and Twitter to find out where they will be serving.
Life Is Sweet: Fort Worth has a new dessert truck with Life is Sweet. The truck serves a variety of desserts including cookies and cupcakes. The truck has been serving at the Fort Worth Food Park and Clearfork Food Park since the end of June. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter to find out where they will be each week.
Lean Machine: Denton has a new food truck with Lean Machine making a debut on August 6. The truck will serve a menu based on healthy, nutritious items. I have not seen the complete menu yet, but there is absolutely a need for more health conscious food trucks. You can follow Lean Machine on Facebook and Twitter to get more information about their menu as well as locations.
La Casa Azul: If all goes according to plans, Dallas will have an authentic Mexican food truck by next week. La Casa Azul has built a menu with Frida Kahlo's inspiration, staying true to Mexican flavor and culture without any influence from outsiders. No Tex-Mex served here! La Casa Azul's menu is made completely from scratch, without canned goods or additives. Customers will build their own masterpiece, in the spirit of Kahlo starting with a canvas of tortillas or bowl, adding texture in the form of a protein, then color with brown, red, yellow, green or black sauce. Accents of side dishes can be added along with viscosity of handmade drinks. I have to say, this is one of the most creative and well thought out trucks I have seen in many months. I look forward to trying La Casa Azul. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about their menu and their launch date.
July and August are tough months to open trucks so visit these trucks soon and show them your support!
